After undergoing training about dialogue competence the HR-process regarding employee surveys underwent a change. They needed to work in a more goal-oriented way.
From traditional employee surveys to active improvement work and dialogue
– Agerus’ method fits us like a glove. A method that has the assignment as the foundation and connects it to goal-attainment and performance development. An improvement and dialogue tool combined. We gained a lot more than just a check-list here. We gained a method to work from, which has turned into a real success factor. These days we talk about the assignment, our roles and develop improvement activities together. it is really exciting to work in our teams. We have discussions on a completely different level, and managers are comfortable to take on uncomfortable results. And that has effects, says Anna.
Länsförsäkringar has come a long way from working with the method. Moving from traditional work practices to actively working with these questions, and making them part of the business and development planning takes stamina and determination. These days, the process always starts with a dialogue about the assignment, goals, management and performance culture. There is transparency in relation to results and activities. By working in this way, improvement activities are included in the business development process, connecting the assignment and business interest.
– Being persistent when choosing new models is, in my experience, essential to get the best deal, Anna continues. It takes a while to create a common language and work methods. Today, unlike the first year, managers and teams initiate and want to perform surveys. they want to check against activities, look more at specific area and so on, which is an extremely positive result.
Attractive employers focus on working with health
Work life is complex and current trends off ill-health is a hot topic. They have a good work environment plan and low levels of sick-leave at Länsförsäkringar Jönköping.
– That doesn’t mean that we don’t have to work with these questions actively. For us, who want to be an attractive and modern employer, it is even more important to work with health, says Sophie Bernström, HR-generalist.
In conjunction with the Swedish Work Environment Authority they chose to look at how they could work even more actively with these questions. They chose to include a health measurement based on Agerus’ concept “A health-creating workplace”, part of their existing surveys, and supplemented with additional surveys throughout the year. The first survey was taken in November and showed good results. They are now doing another survey where all employees will be offered a in-depth health discussion in conjunction with this year’s health check through the Occupational Health Services.
– It is easy for all this to end up at an organisational level. Here we can capture and support at an individual level. We are convinced that work is needed on several levels to prevent illness. The surveys have made us more open, and with a dialogue as a basis, the health check will be an additional useful tool for tackling these questions. It will be exciting to follow the development, Sophie concludes.
